Dance Classes and Private Workshops
-
Private
group Audition/Musicality class starts
off your experience to help show off your style,
how you pick up choreography and your confidence
level. This will help highlight your
strength(s) in the Carnival choreography.
To be featured more in the show, be prepared to
show off your signature moves and/or tricks. -
Carnival is not just for those wishing
to be discovered. Be in the
program for the love of dance and performance
and for all the other cool reasons that make
Summer in L.A. the best way to spend a part of
your summer.
- Private group dance and performance
classes with L.A.'s top choreographers and
dancers that will get you pumped and ready for
your performance debut. Faculty is TBA and
will include America's Best Dance Crew's
Beat
Freaks, Michael Jackson's
"This is It",
So You Think You Can Dance and
The Groovaloos dancers
and choreographers. These choreographers
also have Carnival performance experience.
- Work with Mihran, voted one of the top
Summer in L.A. choreographers for the last
couple of years. Mihran is a versatile and
innovative choreographer whose specialty is Hip
Hop and is currently choreographing Selena
Gomez's world tour. Mihran's other
credits include Madonna, Black Eyed Peas,
Britney Spears and Ricky Martin, to just
name a few. Mihran recently choreographed
the video for our Summer in L.A. Super Star
Dance Intensive.
- Rehearse 8 hour + days at IDA on Hollywood
Blvd. like the pro's do. IDA is the home
of America's Best Dance Crew, So You Think You
Can Dance, American Idol, Mia Michaels, Janet
Jackson, Jesse McCartney, Chase Collins and so
many more!
- Assisting Mihran is Charm who has just
returned from touring with the Black Eyed Peas and
she will add the technical elements to the piece.
She has been working with Mihran since their world
tour with Madonna. She assisted Mihran with
our video shot for the Summer in L.A. Super Star
Dance Intensive.
- Some classes and rehearsals will be held on
site at the hotel to avoid extra travel time for
dancers which will allow for more dance and fun
time.
Leading Industry Guests and Professionals
-
Imagine
being in a room with some of the most well known,
talented choreographers and dancers in THE
industry. Choreographers to stars like
Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, Beyonce and the Pussy Cat Dolls.
Choreographers who create groundbreaking routines
in films such as You Got Served, Stomp the Yard
and Step Up. Choreographers including Wade
Robson, Dave Scott, Sonya Tayeh, Kenny Ortega, &
dancers from MTV's America's Best Dance Crew and
Fox's So You Think You Can Dance.
This is Carnival. This is the show that you
will be in.
-
Adam Shankman (So You Think You Can Dance judge)
on Carnival: "It also serves as an unofficial
casting call. It's the only forum aside from
dance classes where I can go and see who's new and
great."
- Network with industry decision
makers, choreographers, stars & back up dancers
who are inspirational and provide moral
support, guidance and their expertise and
love of dance.
- In additional to the star
choreographers and dancers that Summer in L.A.
dancers meet and work with, past dancers have also
met Marques Houston, Mya and
Carmit Bachar of the Pussy Cat Dolls. Be
sure to check out the
Past Programs
page to read more and visit our
Gallery
to see photos.
- Have intimate and interactive
experiences at all private group
workshops with industry chats, Q & A's,
autograph signing sessions and photo
taking opportunities
- Dancers will be getting a sports massage the
day of the show. Sports massage lessens the chance
for injury, decreases recovery time and optimizes
performance. Gloria Ramos, CMT, is a graduate of
the California Healing Arts College. With a wide
range of healing arts knowledge, she specializes
in the fields of sports and deep tissue massage.
She is also well studied in the areas of
nutrition, with an emphasis on herbal and food
remedies for ailing muscles, joints and over all
good health.
- Chaperones are mature, professional child
care providers to rock stars, celebrities,
corporate presidents and normal everyday people.
They are
Trustline Registered and
CPR and First Aid Certified.
- Meet top U.S.
immigration lawyer Kevin Levine who helped Tre Armstrong
(Missy Elliott), Jae Blaze (Black Eyed Peas) and Janet Castillo
(J Lo) get their US work Visa after Be Discovered recommended him. As a result, they
were able to get a US agent and work in the states. Learn about what you
need to be able to get work in the U.S., if you
are not a US citizen.
Auditions and Shows
-
Your dream? To dance in the world famous
Carnival: the Choreographer's Ball.
- Choreography and wardrobe will be age
appropriate. Although trendy and cool, we
will not use overtly sexual music, routines or
costumes. We do not believe that these are
the only ways to show off talents and get
connections in the industry.
- "It was at Carnival that the producers of
"You Got Served" spotted Robert James
Hoffman II (Step Up II), landing him his first
big-screen choreography credit.
- Dancers from every corner of the globe go to
Los Angeles to try and make it in the biz, and
their first stop is Carnival. Carnival
spans genres with routines in everything from
ballet to modern dance, martial arts to hip hop.
With over 120 dancers and 18 choreographers
contributing to the event, Carnival brings you
the hottest collection of dance from the
industry's best.
- Part nightclub, part talent show, Carnival now
in its' 11th year, features a who's who of local
dancers pirouetting, gyrating and
popping-and-locking for the audience. The
legendary Avalon Hollywood claims bragging
rights to infamous headliners including The
Rolling Stones, Prince, Tina Turner and the
Beastie Boys and is the new home of Carnival.
- Your make up and hair will be professionally
done by top L.A. stylists for the show.
-
Following the performance, stay and watch the rest
of the Carnival show and network with other
dancers,
choreographers and industry decision
makers. - Attend auditions and/or work on
a live set if you fit the type being cast.
In 2004, the dancers attended Christina
Aguilera auditions and in 2005, some of the
dancers were background performers on the
feature film Walk The Talk. In 2007,
Marques Houston sat in on a class looking for
dancers and scouted Talia Adler-Magat, who was
invited to audition for him and for You Got
Served director Chris Stokes. In 2008,
TLC's 10 years younger was being shot live on
location at the Hollywood Highland Mall during
our sightseeing outing. Diana and some of
the dancers were asked to be a part of the taping.
