2008 Dance Intensive

• Hip Hop and Jazz Funk Classes at Millenium, as seen on MTV with choreographers Shane Sparks (America’s Best Dance Crew, So You Think You Can Dance) and Brooklyn
• Full day of group private workshops at International Dance Academy right on Hollywood Blvd. This is the studio where America’s Best Dance Crew is shot at. All workshops included photo taking opportunities and meet and greets with the industry’s top instructors. Janelle Vaccaro was on site all day along with Diana Uribe assessing the dancers
• Private Mock Auditions and Jazz Audition Workshop with JJ Villar (Toni Braxton)
• Private Lyrical Workshop with Robert Schultz (MTV, Billboard Awards, Back Street Boys)
• Private Ballet Workshop with Nancy Paradis
• Private Salsa Workshop with Nancy and partner
• Private Hip Hop Workshop with Maryss from Paris (Chris Brown, Gwen Stefanie, Missy)
• Private Contemporary Workshop with JJ Villar
• Private Tap Workshop with Greg Poland (Broadway)
• Classes at Debbie Reynolds studio including Krumping with Miss Prissy, the hottest female krumper as seen in the movie Rize. Lil’ C came in for the krump session along with Duece, the prince of krump. Dwain Murphy (How She Move, Degrassi) was at the class and networked with the dancers
• Full day of classes at The Edge. Classes included Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet, Turns, Contemporary Jazz, Jazz Funk and more. Dancers selected the classes, levels and choreographers of their choice for the day
• 2 day Career Power Workshop with Tony Award winner Grover Dale of Answers4dancers. The team of professionals included Liz Ramos, Christian Vincent, Michael Schwandt, Chopper, Aisha Francis and many more talented choreographers and dancers

• Were welcomed at the L.A airport by Ben Allen. Ben’s dance experience spans motion picture and television. He continues to dance and travels worldwide teaching and is co-founder of the not for profit organization Passion for Dance Project
• Networked with industry decision makers, choreographers, agents, stars and back up dancers
• Be Discovered’s Diana Uribe was with the dancers all week and offered tips and advice about becoming “professionals” in the industry
• Chaperoned by Janelle Vaccaro, Australian dancer who now resides and works in L.A. Her credits include being signed to DDO and receiving a US artist visa; choreographing & dancing for Virgin Records USA singer/songwriter Che'Nelle; dancing for Rove McManus; internationally recognised and respected company Dance2XS; Supafly and Ministry of Sound from the UK; Aussie dance music duo TV Rock; Carnival Cruise Lines USA; Genting Resort in Malaysia and teaching Hip Hop
• Industry chats and Q & A’s with Ben Allen, Diana Uribe, JJ Villar, Janelle Vacarro, Carmit Bachar, Lee Cherry and Duece the prince of krump
• All private workshops featured intimate and interactive industry chats, Q & A’s, autograph signing sessions and photo taking opportunities

• Stylists at the photo shoot who did the dancers make up are some of the top stylists in the world who have worked on America’s Next Top Model
• Met with top US immigration lawyer Kevine Levine and learned about getting work status in the U.S.

• Part of the studio audience in the front row and on the podiums of the hit TV show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ where LL Cool J and The Dream performed live and 2 dancers were eliminated. Duece the prince of krump attended as a special guest with the dancers
• Showcased for top dance agents from Bloc, MSA, DDO, Clear and ACME as well as top choreographers including Free and Jae Blaze at the Career Power Workshop. All the dancers did extremely well and the agents were interested in more than 75% of the Summer in L.A. dancers.
• TLC’s 10 Years Younger show was being filmed at the Hollywood Highland Mall during the Hollywood tour. Diana along with some of the dancers were invited to be a part of the audience for the live taping
• Mock auditions with JJ Villar. Savanna Schulz and Jessica Lynch were selected by JJ to receive a Be Discovered scholarship as a result of the audition. Savanna is a previous Summer in L.A. dancer
• Congratulations to Jessica Lynch from Massachusetts who was selected for the "Added Bonus" and was invited to attend the Niagara Falls Ashanti concert by her choreographer Brice Vick.

• Dancers traveled from Cyprus, The U.S (Florida, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma) and Canada ( Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Saskatchewan) to Los Angeles, the entertainment capitol of the world
• Walking tour of Hollywood including the Walk of Fame, the Chinese Theatre and more. Duece the prince of krump joined the group on the outing
• The X Files red carpet movie premiere was taking place during our tour of Hollywood as well as the TLC show 10 Years Younger
  
• Shopping in the Hollywood Highlands mall as well as in The Grove and Universal Studios Citywalk
• Souvenier shopping on Hollywood Blvd.
• Lunch at The Grove during the taping of SYTYCD
• Dancers went on an outing following their photo shoot in a super stretch Cadillac Escalade limo on an evening tour of Los Angeles. Stops included Hollywood Blvd., the Sunset Strip, the Santa Monica Pier and a tour of the hotel The Standard, another exclusive L.A hot spot that has been seen on Sex In The City and Entourage. Joining the dancers was Janelle Vaccarro and Duece, the prince of krump (Janet Jackson, Chris Brown, Mary J Blige)

Dance Classes and Workshops

• House class as well as Krumping with Miss Prissy at Debbie Reynolds. Miss Prissy is the hottest female krumper as seen in the movie Rize
• Private Hip Hop Audition Class with JJ Villar (Toni Braxton)
• Private ‘The Groovaloos’ intensive featuring Hip Hop with Bradley “Shooz” Rapier whose credits include Fatboy Slim, Alanis Morisette and Deborah Cox; Old Skool Funk and Locking with “LockN’Key” who has danced for Christina Aguilera, Janet Jackson and the Black Eyed Peas and Hip Hop with Lindsey “Outthere” B (Avril Lavigne)
• Private Breaking workshop with Poe One of Rock So Fresh, Zulu Kingz and Style Elements crews. Poe One co-ordinated and judged the b-boy battle at the Hip Hop Championship and appears as one of the judges in the movie Planet B-Boy
• Private Hip Hop workshop with Mihran (Madonna, Black Eyed Peas)
• Private Krumping workshop with Deuce, the Prince of Krump who appears in Rize, So You Think You Can Dance and on stage and videos with Janet Jackson & Chris Brown
• Urban Moves workshops in Vegas with Shane Sparks, Rino (Harajuko girl, Missy) and Anthony Thomas (Janet Jackson Rhythm Nation choreographer)

• Were welcomed at the L.A airport and chaperoned all week by Janelle Vaccaro, Australian dancer who now resides and works in L.A. • Attended the World B-Boy Battle in Henderson Nevada put on by Poe One who the dancers worked privately with in a Breaking workshop. Poe can also be seen as one of the judges in the film Planet B-Boy
• Watched the best crews battle at the finals of the World Hip Hop Championships in Las Vegas at the Planet Hollywood Resort. MC Hammer received the Living Legend of Hip Hop Award

• Were welcomed at the L.A airport by Canadian actor and Be Discovered client Dayo Ade, of Degrassi High fame. Dayo’s U.S. credits include ER, Scrubs, VIP, Las Vegas, Star Trek, CSI, Alias, Charmed, Girlfriends and the feature film ‘Phat Girlz’
• Meet & Greet and photo taking with The Kids In The Hall, Kevin McDonald who happened to be at the L.A airport. Coincidentally, Dayo Ade had been booked on Kids In The Hall by Diana Uribe years ago
• Networked with industry decision makers, choreographers, agents, stars and back up dancers
• Be Discovered’s Diana Uribe was with the dancers all week and offered tips and advice about becoming “professionals” in the industry
• Met and were photographed with recording star Marques Houston of B2K fame, You Got Served
• Industry chats and Q & A’s with actor Dayo Ade. Dayo Ade was on hand all week from greeting the dancers at the airport, chaperoning and having fun with the dancers

This dance movie starrs Shawn Desman who was previously represented by Diana Uribe who booked him on music videos, print ads and commercials as well as Tre Armstrong, who Diana Uribe booked on music videos, to choreograph for the Raptors Dance Pak and to teach Be Discovered workshops. Diana referred Tre to the same top U.S. immigration lawyer that the Summer in L.A. dancers work with to help her obtain her U.S. work status
• Met and were photographed with DJ Kool Herc, the father of Hip Hop
• Met with top US immigration lawyer and learned about getting work status in the U.S.

• Marques Houston attended the first class on day 1 of Summer in L.A. scouting dancers
• CONGRATULATIONS TO TALIA ADLER-MAGAT from Alberta who was scouted by Marques Houston during the class
• Talia Adler-Magat auditioned the next day for Chris Stokes and Marques Houston. Chris Stokes discovered Brandy, Marques Houston and B2K as well as directed countless music videos and films including the #1 hit dance film You Got Served
• Part of the studio audience in the front row and on the podiums of the hit TV show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ where ‘Mika’ performed live and 2 dancers were eliminated
• Mock auditions with Deuce, the Prince of Krump and Miss Prissy
• Attended the 2nd Annual World B-Boy/B-Girl Battle
• Watched the best crews battle at the finals of the World Hip Hop Championships
• Congratulations to Desiree Williams from British Columbia who was selected for the "Added Bonus" and was on stage watching the Toronto show of Justin Timberlake's Future Sex/Love tour!

• Dancers traveled from Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta and New Brunswick to Los Angeles, the entertainment capitol of the world
• Walking tour of Hollywood including the Walk of Fame, the Chinese Theatre and more
• Shopping in the Hollywood Highlands mall as well as in The Grove
• Souvenier shopping on Hollywood Blvd.
• Lunch at Johnny Rockets at The Farmers Market
• Some of the dancers went on a surprise outing in a black stretch Hummer limo to The Stone Rose, an exclusive lounge owned by Rande Gerber and his wife Cindy Crawford inside a posh hotel. Dancers hung out in a VIP area, ate some treats including giant cotton candy. The limo continued on a tour of Hollywood and the Sunset Strip, stopping for a tour of the hotel The Standard, another exclusive L.A hot spot where the dancers saw Omar Epps.

• Urban Moves 2 workshops with Shane Sparks and Rino (Gwen Stefani)

• Dancers saw Outkast and Omarion rehearsing at one of the studios
• During the shopping trip on Melrose Ave., ran into music video and ‘Honey’ director Bille Woodruff. Be Discovered placed 7 dancers, the poet and 500 extras on this dance film
