FAQ
What sets Be Discovered’s Summer in L.A. program apart from other dance intensives in L.A.?Summer in LA is a one of a kind dance experience. Summer in LA is unique as it is produced and run by industry professionals and not performers who are also training and looking at breaking into the entertainment industry themselves.
Past Summer in LA dancers have attended other Hollywood tours and their testimonials prove that Summer in LA is the hottest dance experience in the world. Some of these dancers will be back in 2010 so our repeat clientele along with our passion, years in the business and impeccable professionalism and seriousness, also sets Summer in LA apart from the rest. these agents were invited to future agency auditions. In 2008, 88% of the
dancers were invited with some having as many as seven agent invites from
Bloc, MSA, DDO, Clear and Acme, the world's top dance agents. In
2009, the dancers once again outdid themselves and received many agent and
choreographer invites for future auditions and opportunities. A few
of the dancers were selected by a producer to appear in a TV pilot with

During Summer in L.A. you will have the chance to work closely with Be Discovered who may consider you for auditions and bookings following the experience. This year, the Dance Intensive has an audition opportunity with a professional dance company and the Hip Hop Intensive for a movie. It is illegal and unethical for any company or person to guarantee auditions or work in the industry. What is the “Image Is Everything! The Hollywood Make Over?In Hollywood, Image is Everything! Dancers need to have a marketable “image” and need to know how to style themselves. As most dancers are not models, they may not know how to do their hair and make up, find the right clothes for their body type, dress for auditions and look good all the time. At past agents showcases, the following was said to dancers: “You look like a cheerleader, not a dancer”; “Your hair is not current and looks like it is from a different era”; “You look like you just got out of bed and not like you are attending an agents showcase”; “What you are wearing is not flattering”; “You are dressed too mature for your age”, etc. Be Discovered believes in being progressive and as a result have created the
Image Is Everything! The Hollywood Make Over. The 2010 Summer in L.A. dancers will now be able to find their own style and create a better version of who they already are.
This incredible experience is not to change who you
are but to help you feel better about yourself.
The media and entertainment industry tend to
contribute to body image and self esteem issues and
this program will do just the opposite. Dancers will work with a fashion consultant and personal shopper
to the stars as well as hair and make up stylists. Have dancers met any celebrities during Summer in L.A.?Yes, in addition to all the celebrity choreographers and dancers that Summer in LA dancers meet, dancers met
Mya
and sat in on her private concert rehearsal and hung out with and learned from Canadian actor Dayo Ade of Degrassi High fame. In 2007, the dancers met Kids In the Halls Kevin McDonald, recording sensation and actor Marques Houston and music video and You Got Served director Chris Stokes.
