About Us
Summer in L.A.
Summer in L.A. is the annual dance experience of a lifetime that allows dancers the opportunity to experience L.A's professional dance world while training with the industry's best.
Founded in 2004 by Be Discovered Inc. Talent Director Diana Uribe, the program was created for dancers who dream about going to L.A. as part of an organized group to train, attend shows and network with other dancers, choreographers, stars, agents and leading industry decision makers.
Dancers learn the latest and hottest moves seen today on stage, film, videos and on tours but most importantly they get to know themselves and their place in not only the dance world, but the world in general.
Dancers not only perfect the skills required to become professionals and be successful in Hollywood, but they also find the confidence to find success when they return home at their studios, schools, competitions and performances.
Summer in LA is directed annually by Diana Uribe.

Diana Uribe
Diana (pronounced Deana) is the founder and Talent Director of Be Discovered.
Diana is a pioneer in her field and a great role model for people from all walks of life. Born in a small barrio in Medellin, Colombia, her family immigrated to Toronto when she was just seven years old and lived in the projects until her late teens.
In grade school Diana realized she had a passion for performance and dance and became involved in shows as well as was quite resourceful in finding local auditions, a knack that she still displays today. Unable to take dance classes at a local studio run by Brian Foley due to financial limitations, Diana taught herself to dance and grew up watching Debbie Allen on 'Fame.'
As a teen with dreams of being a star herself, Diana wanted to travel to L.A. to experience “Hollywood” but had no idea where to start. This was the inspiration that led her to create Summer in L.A. Even fifteen years later, no program of its kind exists anywhere in the world. She is now living her dreams helping others realize theirs through priceless opportunities of a lifetime.
While still in high school, Diana trained at The Factory Theatre where she had the opportunity to work with some of Canada’s greats including Gordon Pinsent. In 2000, she stage managed Kiss 92’s Wham Bam Jam featuring Destiny’s Child, Kardinal Official and Jully Black.
Diana has been booking talent for half her life. At just eighteen she was booking talent on TV shows including Street Legal and Kids in the Hall and on movies starring Keanu Reeves, Ice T and Neve Campbell. Diana has represented, managed and booked many talented stars including actor Dayo Ade, who played ‘BLT’ on Degrassi High, DJ Joy, Christina Aguilera's DJ and recording artists Shawn Desman, Andrea Henry of Sugar Jones and Ryan Malcolm, Canadian Idol.
Diana who didn’t speak a word of English when she arrived in Canada has become a great communicator and public speaker conducting entertainment industry workshops at The Learning Annex, annually at the Raptors Dance Pak workshops and at the On The Move conference. Diana has also sat on the board of directors at Dance Ontario, the provinces leading communicator of dance.
Diana has adjudicated and scouted at competitions across the country, cast music videos including Choclair's 'Let's Ride' directed by Little X and Bollywood films including 'The Hero,' the most expensive Bollywood film ever shot.
Diana has been a casting assistant to some of the industry’s most reputable casting directors as well as was hired as a consultant for the National Film Board of Canada's documentary 'Breakin' In: The Making of a Hip Hop Dancer.
Diana believes in giving back to the community. In Canada, shelters and the homeless on Toronto streets have received sleeping bags in the winter for the last couple of years, personally delivered by Diana and Alex Saraiva. In 2008, Diana and her sister Claudia started a knapsack for poor kids in Colombia project where 50 kids receive all their school supplies in a knapsack and shoes at the start of the school year. Be Discovered workshops in Edmonton donated $1000 to the Make A Wish Foundation and $500 worth of gifts to Santa’s Kidz. Be Discovered also donated its services and workshops to the Boys and Girls Club of America’s annual conference that had hundreds of under privileged kids in attendance. Diana has also been an advocate for and donated time and/or funds to Artists Against Racism, St. Christopher’s House Aids Hospice, The Red Cross and The Salvation Army.
Although Diana has been an industry professional for half her life, Diana feels that there is still so much left for her to learn and do and she is just getting started!
